According to WBLS: Jay-Z has shared his reaction to yesterday's (October 2) unexpected passing of John "Mr. Magic" Rivas and said hip-hop has lost one of its pioneers.
Speaking with radio personality Egypt, Hovi expressed his feelings toward the late Magic.
"I'm a kid from the first generation of people that was listening to hip-hop and all we had was the radio," Hov explained in a phone interview. "We had to wait up. It wasn't like it is now. He's one of the pioneers that brought it to where it is now. We used to have to wait by the radio and it'd come on an hour. Mr. Magic was just one of the first people there, the pioneers that made it is what it is today...My condolences and respects to his family. And to all the hip-hop generations, we lost one of our pioneers." (WBLS)
