For those that may remember the Oasis gripes from Mr. Gallagher about Jay-Z headlining the Glastonbury Festival, get ready to pour out some haterade for those that don't like Jay-Z.
I have already begun to hear people talking (both positive and negative) about Coachella choosing Hova Da God MC as the 2010 headliner.
A little about Coachella and this year's lineup: (from their web presence):
Jay-Z, Muse and Gorillaz will headline the 11th annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, to be held April 16-18 at Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. Also confirmed are LCD Soundsystem, Faith No More, Thom Yorke, Pavement and the Specials.
Other bands and DJs confirmed for the event include Vampire Weekend, Them Crooked Vultures, Phoenix, Tiësto, Deadmau5, David Guetta, MGMT and Public Image Limited.
People might not realize how big this is for Hip Hop, the whole Roc Nation clique, Jay-Z fans all over the world, yet, not one music purist can deny when Jay hits the stage asking for Memphis Bleek with Tony Royster Jr. on drums (mind you, he rocks the double kick drum on his kit and also a past Guitar Center Drum Off Champion), Omar Edwards on keys, Neil Armstrong on the 1s and 2s and more, that the ROC IS IN THE BUILDING! ... well... not really building but ...
the largest festival in the United States, drawing 153,000 in 3 days for 2009. The 2009 edition was also "the top grossing festival in the United States, taking in over $15 million according to Billboard Boxscore.". Naturally, to top last year, you need the whole festival throwing the Diamonds Up!
